Cowal Council on Alcohol & Drugs

Counselling

Cowal Council on Alcohol & Drugs offers a free, confidential counselling service to anyone concerned about their own drinking or drug use. The service is also available to partners, other family members, or friends who may be worried by another's drinking or drug use.

In addition to self referral, we take referrals from statutory and non-statutory agencies - for example, GPs, hospitals, social workers, courts and employers.

The aim of counselling is to help you identify and deal with any problems you feel you have. We do not tell you what you should do. Rather, we support and enable you to make your own decisions and lifestyle changes.

First appointments are arranged through the office and counselling is delivered by a fully trained and experienced counsellor for weekly sessions of usually one hour. The length of the counselling programme varies from a few weeks up to several months according to your needs.
